i was...impressed?

so...a couple of hours ago i got back from the clay aiken concert. and i have to say...i kind of enjoyed it. i had fun, and i was impressed. here's how it went:

first off...i wasn't front row like intended. my mom had originally purchased 3 tickets: one for her, one for me, and one for my clay aiken obsessed sister, alli. well, i have this cousin who works at the big radio station in my home town and when either of my siblings or i want tickets for a concert the radio station is sponsoring, we can call him up and get free tickets. this is how i got my 10 rows back tickets to my much beloved aerosmith. so anyways...alli emailed him and he got her front row tickets. only 2 though...so my mom accompanied alli to the front row seats and then i had 3 seats to myself. so i called up squeak and our two min. conversation (phone card limitations) went like this: "you wanna go to clay aiken tomorrow night?" pause... "sure." and that was that. two seats filled. the third ticket i tried to give to my other friend heidi, but she had to work. i tempted zerek, my brother, but he said that he wouldn't go if someone paid him to. i was gonna ask nate, knowing he would say no (i've heard his opinion) but missed the opportunity too but in that time my mom told zerek he had to go...then he didn't want to so she was going to ask my aunt...but then he decided he wanted to go. such a confussing kid. so anyways, zerek was mine and squeak's date for the night.

so we kicked off the night with wonderful food from paradiso with alli's friend and mom. i was supposed to take my car but unfortunatly, i completely forgot what i was doing for once in my life and locked my keys and cell phone, money, and overnight bag my car. gotta take car of that in the morning. then it was off to the concert. the opening act was a girl called cherie...who didn't speak much english. i heard at one point that she was supposedly from toronto. but i liked her songs, they were upbeat and catchy so yeah...she also tried to teach us how to do a suduction dance...zerek, squeak and i sat that one out.

then clay came on. first impression...he was bigger than i thought. but most times i've seen him, i've seen him standing next to rubuen...so i can only wonder how big rubuen is. his songs weren't bad at all though. the best one was this christian song he did...it was really cool with the screens and the lighting effects. also at one point, they were showing this video when he was singing his american idol song that he sang for the the final showdown (i think it was the song anyway) and they were showing what he's done in the past year and they were showing this magazine cover of him and the camera was shifting down the magazine cover, i was think, what the heck are they going to show, don't go any lower! and then...they showed his wrist, where he had a black W.W.J.D. bracelet on. it was...kind of moving i guess. squeak and i weren't impressed with his second outfit he came out with...the blue shirt was ok, but those pine stripped pants could have passed for pajama pants if you asked us. and then there's the hair...it's amazing with it's anti-gravitation abilities. i secretely think that's what zerek is trying to acheive with his hair...it's so long and...chloriney? you can see the cholorine in it and it causes it to take on the ani-gravitation that clay's has. squeak and i told him we could clay aiken his hair. we all laughed at all the older drunk mom's who were shakin their bon bons...quite amusing. we all nearly threw up, too, at some of those youngsters clothes that were quite skimpy and REALLY didn't fit. i would never let my daughter out of the house with anything NEAR what they were wearing. my sister and her friend made shirts and prettied theirselves up in case clay would look their way. they also had posters that squeak, zerek and i would have nothing to do with. it was quite an amusing night. the three of us in our decent seats still couldn't believe we were sitting at a clay aiken concert but after the night...i was really quite impressed. the james tayler songs were fun and the remake of rosanna and zerek singing along and the weird faces from the lady next to him when he belted out his off key "RO SA NA, YEAH!" was great. then to cap off the night, the crowd when wild to "invisible" so it was fun to see everyone get into the song.

so yeah. that was my night...hope yours was grand! i'm gone for the weekend...off to fargo for a swim meet. wish for warm weather!!
