little kids
i had the opportunity to coach the little kids on wednesday at swim practice. it was actually kinda fun. they all listened really well, i just had to keep yelling at them, "heads up!" to keep their heads above water. they're all obsessed with handstands and everything else that's under the surface of the pool. i've discovered that this team has a couple of awesome little swimmers. Caleb has a kick butt breaststroke and Marice has a fly like you wouldn't believe for how small she is! I fixed some of the kid's strokes and was amused with their bizarre stories they had to tell me. one girl was using a flipper to tell me the story of how the titanic sunk when the boy from the next lane swam over and grabbed the flipper inbetween his teeth. nice.
it should be interesting to see which group of kids i get to coach for the summer. i could go either way. i would love to work with the little kids and get their endurance up and to fix their strokes but i would also love to work with the older kids as i can help them with their strokes too and kick their butts with the workouts i have. mmmmm...don't know.
my co-coach and i have to get to know each other a little better also. we're both still at that, i-don't-know-you-that-well-so-i'm-not-going-to-be-overly-friendly-yet stage. i've tried to be friendly but i can't just sit down and talk to her like i can with the coach that is done in a week, jenny. megan is nice, but i'm thinking we just don't have a whole lot in common. should be interesting to see what the summer has in store for us!
