the weekend: part 1: FRIDAY

this weekend will be one not to forget. not only did i not get any homework done, but i went camping with the habifam and happened to spend all day saturday and sunday with nate and square! it's on my top 10 weekend list. so this is how my weekend went:

friday morning i went to class (pretty shocking). then i went to my eye doctor's appointment and i got my contacts back! i'm loving this! then i went garage saling to find a dresser...i would like a tall one so that it will take up less room but ekren and nate both said they had a dresser for me if i wanted it and i could have my old one back from my parents...i have to make a decision on that before thursday...otherwise it's going in the garage sale that my mom is having. then i stopped by to see nate and ekren who were raking a lawn for habitat. they asked if i had brought them doughnuts and sadly i said no. o well. then i was off to see my sister who was in town in a math masters meet. she did ok...didn't come in last place. after i said goodbye to her i went and hit up some more garage sales while i had lunch in my car. then i went to pick up the rakers for that afternoon's lawn. dropped them off at their site and then i went to swim practice. swim practice was fine and dandy but i'm tired of fridays...all they do is fun days. i want to do something productive with them! after practice i went and picked up a check for habitat for raking we did on wednesday then i went out to see if they were still all the way out at the other place...not there. called peaches, talked to her. tried to call square. no answer. she was supposed to be back by now! went home, relaxed for an hour, then decided i should call people to make sure they all know what is going on this weekend. went through the list, talked to everyone or left them a message, talked to nate for a little while about what all needs to be done. and then the cricitcals started. called peaches and asked if she wanted to come with to go grocery shopping for the weekend with me as square wasn't back yet. square did call when i was talking to nate, she had just left home. still hasn't told me the whole story about that. so peaches and i hit up walmart looking for deals and groceries. everytime we'd find a new item from our list, we had to figure out how much to get. "well, there's 15 of us...and dave." we figured accordingly. dropped off peaches. then i got smart. went to the newman so we could get all of our food and stuff out of there because i just realized we wouldn't be able to get it in the morning! walked into the newman and talked to father bob.

"are you the person who is bringing the cake?"

"umm...no, i don't have cake...i'm from habitat. can we get in here in the morning?"

"what time?"

"uh...8:30?"

"o no...we'll be sleeping still. the boys are out late and i need my sleep so you'll have to get what you need tonight."

"ok, thanks, you get your sleep."

i tried to think of everything we could possibly need. made a couple hundred trips of food and other utilities from the newman to my car. then i went home, unloaded all the groceries and everything out of my car. i actually found room for everything at my house. then i realized...i forgot the cups at the newman! running back and praying to God they would still be open...no. i didn't have cups for anyone to drink anything out of. greeat. ran to maple. called peaches on the way. vented her about everything i still had to do. got to maple. square's light was on!!! ran to her window. *knock, knock* no one...look through the blinds. no one there. ran to the door of maple...locked. then i saw kt, my sistah and matt. ran and slammed myself against the window. i think i scared them. they let me in however. ran to the front desk.

"can i have a key for the storage lockers?"

"someone already has it."

"square?"

"huh?"

"andrea?"

"uh..yeah."

"yeesss! kt! can you let me in?!"

i ran to the door. kt walked so i ended up standing there for about 10 seconds. up the stairs comes square. flattened myself against that window too. "square!!!!" i don't think i've seen a face full of so much shock, confusion and bewilderness at one time. got in to the dorms and sat down on the coolers that square had brought up and took a breather and told square the whole story. whew. then she helped me carry the coolers and tote's out to my car. then i went back inside with her to talk for a little while. then i went home. packed. got other stuff ready for the weekend. talked to square online. sent out the habitat email. got ready for bed. once in bed i called square. after our conversation i hung up. called her up again.

"square. don't let me forget a hammer for the tents."

ok, i won't forget." click.

called her back.

"square. don't let me forget to have people grab flashlights."

"ok, sounds good. weren't you going to bed?"

"yeah...eventually."

"k." click.

then at about 2 pm. i went to sleep. ony to wake up the next day at 6 am.
