superblogdom

squeak made that one up...superblogdom...she'll have to enlighten us with the definition at some point. i'm hoping right now that i won't have class tonight. i would rather go enjoy my time with my habitat family and the laughter that orbits them as we grace the winners of the penny drive with their rootbeer float parties. sounds much more fun to me than sitting in a cold classroom and running plate's of metal (that big booty jammed her back into) with etchings on them and covered in ink through a press. rootbeer float parties? running plates through a press? you pick. so let's all cross our fingers.....

work has been somewhat boring lately. this is about the time that i joined online services last year and i remember sitting around doing absolutely nothing. and what i am doing now? absolutely nothing. well not really. i am typing in my blog. but that's only because i'm doing absolutely nothing. i just got done helping dave larkin, one of the teachers on campus, develop one of his online classes. i'm glad i have such a high level of patience because i sat and watched him do the same thing over and over again. uploading files and creating files and putting them into his course. i'm glad he's learning but sometimes i just want to say, "here, let me do it and it'll be done by the end of the day. i promise." and then get 'er done. that simple. but i have much more respect for myself and others than that. so i sat and watched. i made one of the paper folding game thingies where you pick one of the numbers on top and .... ok, not sure how i'm going to explain it but if you know what i'm talking about, good for you! otherwise, well, sorry!

i'm excited for church tomorrow as usual. not sure who all is going along but it'll be interesting to see. they just turned off the lights in the office next to us and it makes me want to pack up and head on out of here too. i still have an hour left. if squeak was on messenger i would see if she wants to play a game to help pass my time but last i checked she was away.

i have to work on more stupid honors stuff tonight. more essays. since when did honors become hard? it used to be the easiest class i had! all you had to do was show up, sit quietly, contribute your thoughts, and leave. two hours of boredom. but nooooo. not anymore. now the teachers decided we were law students and they might as well make this hard so they can fail us all. grrrr. can't do much about it though. i'll just tough it up....5 more weeks left and it'll all be over! katie and i also have to do some work on our end project for honors. doesn't sound like it should be that bad but we still have 17 pages left to type. looking forward to that this weekend....

::::square came to the marvalous (sp?) discovery that when she says "andi and i" it's kinda like saying andi andi. great work!::::

at peace with myself....aaahhhh.....

so square has been getting on me to post. and now i am. it took me such a long time to post as i wasn't quite sure what to post. you may think that when you have a busy and hectic week you would have just crap loads to type and put up here but it took me awhile to find time, figure what i wanted to write about, and then get 'er done (YES!). so now that i have contemplated and put much thought into this...i think i'm ready to go.

the past week (mon. 22- fri. 26) was just hectic. i found myself drowning in my homework. i forgot an assignment, i forgot that another one was due in a couple of days, i had to study for a test that did not interest me at all and was written for law students...which i have to be the farthest away from. i tried to stay calm through it and finish it, or as nate would say "get 'er done." and i did, no problems. but as the high rising waters calmed down, i noticed that i did too. this past weekend was a lot of fun but i noticed that i just wasn't as talkative and perky as i am with my fellow habitat family...i was rather quite and i wondered if they noticed too. i opted to sit and listen to them talk, bicker and laugh than joining in. it was a surreal experience. this is what i used to be like in high school. the quiet one who would rather have her nose in a book or computer and would rather sit and listen than to blab and share her inter most feelings. it's not that i didn't want to share...it was just a peaceful time for me. but i also noticed something else about myself...

it happened when we got back from the trip. i noticed that my relationship with God has been getting stronger. through out my as-to-date short college life, my relationship with God has been depleting. in high school i was very active with my church. i loved my mission and habitat trips back then and my junior and senior year i came really connected with God and my church. i became a peer minister, a sunday school teacher, i wrote the youth newsletters and went to wednesday night alive. but then college came and my connection with my church started to wear thin. i didn't find a church here in Bemidji that i could connect with or had the time or a friend to go with. but somehow the habitat trip changed that. this year we tried to make it more Godly (great word, i know!). we started the trip with a prayer session, christian radio stations were played often and at one point square and i were even belting it out on the streets of downtown oklahoma city after a fake hockey game (pre rehearsed fights at a hockey game does not equal a real hockey game). then when we came back square asked me if i would like to go to church...approximately 2 hours after we got back and unloaded from the trip. i was a little hesitant at first just because i really wanted my sleep...but something told me to go...so square, gizmo, nate and i went to church, and i've gone now every week since, even wednesday nights. perkins usually happens afterwards as we will get something to eat and enjoy more bonding time and good, long, funny and cricitical talks (anything can happen!). i've also put my cross and confirmation necklaces back on and i'm constantly playing with them, untangeling them, reaching to make sure they are still there, just holding them. my bible is always with me in my car. people used to comment on it but it hasn't happened lately. i'm itching to open it back up and look at all the mementos i've put in there, to look at how i personalized it, to share them with someone. that's one of my favorite things to do, to share my mission trip experiences with everyone. everytime i look at nate or give him the evil eyes (or as i found out they can also be called "the hairy eyeball) i see his cross necklace too and it's a reminder to me...it's little things like that. last week when i was walking home, having criciticals about the doom day midterm i had coming up, i would pass a nickel on the street...i saw it at least 3 days last week. i got my favorite email again about the millionaire who picks up pennies as they remind him of God, as on every one they say "in God we trust." on the day before my test, as i was walking home with criciticals in my head, i saw the nickel again. i picked up, dusted it off, read "in God we trust." i smiled and stuck it in my pocket, stopped worrying and the nickel is still there...i'll probably keep that one for awhile.

i'm very elated to have God back in my life. he was missing as i disreguarded him...putting my life with him on hold. but now things are good, back to an almost normal. i'm glad that he reached back through me. it's a wonderful blessing. so thank you habitat family for everything you have done..especially bringing God back into my life :) !!!

::also, i think my test went somewhat well...B or C range?::
::i got the idea for this post from the blog "beautiful distraction." it was a great post. check it out on my side bar::

ANT AND THE CONTACT LENS
A true story by Josh and Karen Zarandona.

Brenda was a young woman who was invited to go rock
climbing. Although
she was very scared, she went with her group to a
tremendous granite cliff.
In spite of her fear, she put on the gear, took hold
of the rope,
and started up the face of that rock. Well, she got
to a ledge where she
could take a breather. As she was hanging on there,
the safety rope snapped against Brenda's eye and knocked out he
contact lens. Well, here
she is, on a rock ledge, with hundreds of feet below
her and hundreds of
feet above her. Of course, she looked and looked and
looked, hoping it
had landed on the ledge, but it just wasn't there.
Here she was, far from
home, her sight now blurry. She was desperate and
began to get upset, so
she prayed to the Lord to help her to find it. When
she got to the top, a
friend examined her eye and her clothing for the
lens, but there! was no
contact lens to be found.

She sat down, despondent, waiting for the last of
them to make it up
the face of the cliff. She looked out across range
after range of
mountains, thinking of that verse that says, "The
eyes of the Lord run to
and fro throughout the whole earth." She thought,
Lord, You can see all
these mountains. You know every stone and leaf, and
You know exactly
where my contact lens is. Please help me.
Finally, they walked down the trail to the bottom.
At the bottom
there was a new party of climbers just starting up
the face of the cliff.
One of them shouted out, "Hey, you guys! Anybody
lose a contact lens?"
Well, that would be startling enough, but you know
why the climber saw
it? An ant was moving slowly across the face of the
rock, carrying it on
it's back.
Brenda told me that her father is a cartoonist. When
she told him the
incredible story of the ant, the prayer, and the
contact lens, he drew a
picture of an ant lugging that contact lens with
the words, "Lord, I
don't know why You want me to carry this thing. I
can't
eat it, and it's awfully heavy. But if this is what
You want me to do,
I'll carry it for You."

I think it would probably do some of us good to
occasionally say,
"God, I don't know why you want me to carry this
load. I can see no good
in it and it's awfully heavy. But, if you want me to
carry it, I will."

God doesn't call the qualified, He qualifies the
called.

Please tell me this is why my life is so....complicated? busy? completely full of homework? (it's just homework that sucks)
why people who suck at driving just shouldn't drive!

so today after work, i walk home from school only so i can get my car so i'm not running around on the streets of bemidji after dark and i don't worry my mother half to death (some how she will find out that i'm running around on the streets of bemidji after dark. i don't know how, but we'll save my mothers 3rd eye stories for another time) after i am done with my night class, which gets over at 9. which i was also planning on going to the library and studying my butt off for my economics and law class which is an honors class which i hate which i just don't want to take this test for....but anyways.

now that you are completely lost.

let me finish my story. :)

so i walk home from work, go in the house, grab other things i need for my "night life," and i head out the door, jump into my car, turn it on, check my mirrors....MY MIRROR! yes, my driver's side mirror has been SMACKED INTO AND SOMEONE FREAKING BROKE IT! GGGRRRRRRRRR! you have no idea how mad this makes me! now i have to freaking replace the mirror which i can't use insurance on just because one STUPID person decided they couldn't drive! the mirror itself has cracks running through it and the mirror is dislodged from it's holder just hanging there by a couple of wires. it is also cracked on the holder thingy where it is attached to the car. again, ggggrrrrr! so i freak out, check my car for other damages, which thank God, no, and run inside and grab my cell phone to call my parents.

so yeah, now i have to buy a new mirror. which i would have never had to pay for. but someone had to be completely careless and inconsiderate and decided to just rip off my poor mirror. why? what did i do to deserve this? someday when i die will this be explained to me? why i had to suffer so someone else can have the joy of saying that they cracked someone's mirror off their car? what's the benefit? i already have absolutely zip in my bank account (and i'm not over exaggerating), so why? explain! please!!!

on a much higher note, at least they didn't smack up my whole car and it was just my mirror. and i can easily buy a replacement...for about 50 buckeroos. they should just be lucky that i wasn't there to see it happen. they may have had their head ripped off...or worse. anyone wanna donate to the andi foundation?

reasons i should not be an artist:

i just had to draw a self portrait of myself...i look like a drug addict.

Phil. 4:13: "I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me."

The road to success is not straight. There is a curve called Failure, a
loop
called Confusion, speed bumps called Friends, red lights called Enemies,
caution lights called Family. You will have flats called Jobs. But, if
you
have a spare called Determination, an engine called Perseverance,
insurance called Faith, a driver called Jesus, you will make it to a place
called Success.
prez andi: the evil emailer!

if there has been one thing i have learned in life, it's this: i would rather not cause conflict. in the end, it is always easier if i just suck it up and do whatever that needs to be done myself because i do not like to deal with conflict. i also do not like to put people in their place or tell them how it should be or just tell them that they are wrong. but i had to do that. i usually believe that everyone is doing what they need to do and they have a reason for what they are doing...did you follow that? let's try phrasing it this way: if someone is doing something that i don't approve of, or i consider it something that i wouldn't do, i believe they are probably doing what ever it is they are doing for a good reason.

anyway, i had to write an email to the "big" habitat president, who is a friend of mine (he got me my coaching job), and tell him that we were frustrated with the "big" habitat's efforts. i was later told it was harsh...which is not what i want. i'm slightly scared now. here's the email i sent; you can judge it:

Hi Tim,

The reason I am writing this is to tell you that we are going to put off the benefit concert for now. There are a couple reasons for this. One being that the concert is too close and that we are still uncertain of many things. The other reason is because we wanted to raise money for Dennis and Evelyn's roof together with the "Big Habitat" and we feel that we, the "Little Habitat," are doing most of the work.

We wanted to "Raise the Roof" with Big Habitat this year as to bring us closer together. Both the Big and Little Habitat get credit on our year end reports if we can say that we have worked together. In the past years, as far as I can tell, both of us haven't done much work together. This year we thought that we could change that. We thought that doing the benefit concert together we be good for both organizations and for the city. We have enthusiasm to put this concert together, but we weren't quite feeling the same enthusiasm from you. I would come away from the Big Habitat's meetings with ideas but without sure committment on your part. I would then proceed to the Little Habitat meetings only to find more questions and the members overwhelmed and frustrated with what we still had to do. We felt that we were being put in the spot of putting on the Benefit concert for you, but what we wanted was to put on the Benefit concert with you.

We would still like to put on an event with the Big Habitat so that we can help "raise the roof." We would like to know if there is possibly another date that would work better with the Big Habitat. A date that was mentioned was possibly the 24th of April. We also had talk that we could possibly do it at a church, possibly First Lutheran. It depends on if we want to rely on the elders in the community to bring in the money or if we want to (in Lois's words) "have a rompin' time." Some ideas that have come up would be to do an event at the Uptown Cafe, possibly having Carolyn help sponsor? There was also talk of having Sammy come and play there.

We are really looking forward to doing an event with you. As I mentioned to the Little Habitat, this isn't a "us" and a "them" event; it's a "we." Hopefully the Big Habitat will feel the same?

Thank you so much for your help and time!

Andi

square told me i sounded to harsh. the last thing i want is for them to think i'm some sort of ungratelful person...i hate doing these sort of things because the last time i "put someone in their place" i ended up upsetting my mother and myself and i went home from school with an upset stomach wondering if i would ever live. it was a horrible day. now i have to see the big habitat on wednesday...should be fun... :(

whoopididoodahday yay!

do a little dance cause it's friday five time!

If you...

1. ...owned a restaurant, what kind of food would you serve?
wow...off all the things i could serve...it's a toss up between italian, ice cream, and sandwiches (not deli express!) hmmm...or maybe just a chicken everything restraurant! mmmm...chicken!

2. ...owned a small store, what kind of merchandise would you sell?
i'm so indecisive about these things...what to sell what to sell...how about a graphic design store! with paper and all sorts of art supplies...how fun!

3. ...wrote a book, what genre would it be?
a hot steamy romance novel. actually no...because i wouldn't know how to go about writing it having no hot steamy romance in my life to base it on. awww shucks. how about self help books? now that could be interesting.... hehehe

4. ...ran a school, what would you teach?
art and graphic design! of course! but then again, why would i be teaching? i would be dictating the school!

5. ...recorded an album, what kind of music would be on it?
since i can't sing, it would have to be some sort of comedy. we won't go with music, well, maybe piano music, but i don't have the ambition right now.

so yeah. that's my friday five. ann would be so proud of me. i had a cricitical moment last night. habitat emails just weren't working so i called square. i think i scared her. o well, it was a good time. on an even better note, we got to work on the habitat video today! things are looking up!! now on to that weekend homework! (haha...yeah right!)

my life as a procrastinator

it doesn't get much better. i get home after boring classes, where at these boring classes, i decided that i have this list of things that i need to accomplish when i get home. so finally, classes end and i'm on my way home, still ready to tackle my list of things when i get home. well, as you can probably guess, i get home and i get everything on my list accomplished. that's it. end of story.

actually, i'm kidding. actually, i'm kidding BY A LONG SHOT. this is the full story. i get home and yes, i'm set to tackle the list. packing, cleaning, broadcast to finish writing and then habitat emails...and then to bed because i'm dead tired after my adventurous night last night. so what do i do when i walk in the door? well, first i check my email, just because that's the type of person i am. it makes my day when people try to communicate with me (it doesn't happen often so i have to do a little dance!). then i check blogs. and then i sorta start on my list. i start grabbing my piles of dirty clothes that my roommate carly claims that i could keep 30 people clothed with for 30 days, and she's probably true. i also grab everything that i think i may want to bring home tomorrow when i leave. then i get started on my mess that i still have laying out since i got back from my habitat trip. basically, i stare at it. stare it some more. stare it one more time. then hope with all my might that it will clean itself up by itself. and then i realize that i have to do it. so i start making piles. and really, that's all my room is these days. piles of clothes, piles of habitat, piles of pictures, piles of electronics, piles of art stuff, piles of homework, piles of misc. stuff that i don't know what in the heck to do with. so i make my piles and then i run downstairs and take my pile of going home stuff out to the car without incident. and then i crash on the couch.

i thought i would just be watching friends. but no. it was friends, will and grace, extreme makeover and then i get my butt off the couch. at this point i don't have my homework done and i have a hand full of emails to write still. so, i take a shower. after putting some au gratin potatoes in the stove so they would be done when i was done with getting squeaky clean. so now i'm clean, and i start on my half of the dishes, get those done, eat and watch more tv (but this time it was like 10 min. worth, i swear!). and now....i'm upstairs....in my room...5 hours later...procrastinating more by listening to music and typing on my blog...and half the list done. at least i got half the list done i guess...but the important stuff is still left to do. grrrrr....i'm pathetic. i think i may call someone to help me with the emails though...just to make sure i'm sounding gramatically correct. we'll see.

but on a lighter note...last night rocked! after church and some homework, the habitat crew met up again at 11:30 at night for a perkins pie run! we dominated the place with our laughter and we all had a good time. as if you couldn't get us together and not have a good time. even better, i had all the studs in my car! woohoo! heheheheee! o wow, i love the habitat family...can't stress that enough. love ya!

new look...again!

not quite done with it yet...hold on!
good, non eventfull (i guess not really) day

ok, i guess...so i kinda lied. the eventful part was the habitat meeting and it went great! i'm so pumped! we know what we are doing and we laughed the whole way through...we're a great team!

i'm still on spring break, technically...i don't have class until maybe, tomorrow night...i'll have to see if my teacher shows up...so. all i did today was work. and update blogs. but i have errands to run tomorrow for work, habitat and school and i want to work out. eventful day. unlike today. except for habitat...i was so excited to see them! o and i guess that i should add that after the meeting as we were filming ending thoughts, and nate's apology (hehe), we were all getting ready to film nate and .... BLACKOUT! o but was it fun... we filmed nate in the blackout and then as we were thinking about leaving...half of them come back! so we had some drinks and then sat around and talked, even after the lights came on...that's why i love them. they make my life fun exciting and add those needed events!

back to the real world

i can't believe the best time off my life is now over. spring break in OKC was more than i imagined. i never imagined that i would be a part of a family of 18 and i know we will always be close. together we all put up a house. in OKC. we laughed together. we fought together. we all love each other. i miss them all already and it has been about 24 hours already and i'm just itching to see them tonight! it was funny when we first realized that we were a family. it was the end of the week and we were on our way back home. sitting at a village inn in omaha, nebraska, and we had all just got our food. while we were eating, we all start passing food around the table, all sharing with each other. lo j then looks over and just says, "we look like one crazy family!" and it's true. here's some other reasons we all are a family:

-we drive for 18 hours, going straight to okc, only stopping for food and bathroom breaks. we all got pretty confortable using each other for pillows and we had no problem with it.

-we all had the same common goal. "let's get that house up! the family's moving in at 5!" as we stare down at the slab of cement foundation. we got straight to work!

-we can bicker at each other like no other. we are always teasing each other, coming up with witty comments for each other ("can you guys look behind the van and tell me how much room i have before i hit the car behind me?", "you have mirrors." nate so got evil eyes for that one..."that's it! everyone out! ESPECIALLY NATE!) (square, put down the camera and get to work!) (how odd is it that nate said most of these comments?) i think we were all ready to pummel nate at the end of the trip...but we never would because we all have love for each other...even nate.

-we all learned how to work with each other. building a house requires team work. if you would look up team work in the dictionary, you find find a picture of BSU habitat for humanity. that's how well we work together and i'm proud to say i'm part of the team.

-we have a million and one inside jokes. every thing from "let's nail that stud!" to "that's manly" to "the sun is round. there are flies on the walls." to "rubber ducky, this is rusty nail. do you read me?" and in a low voice, "caandy caane." yeah...good times!

-we're all comfortable with showing the love. every now and then you'll hear one of us say, "i love you!" and the hugs are always going around.

-we all have nicknames. or a stripper name. not that having a stripper name has anything to do with being a family but hey, we're all comfortable with calling each other by our stripper names. and then laughing hysterically at it.

-we had a lot of us reveal our true selves. especially nate, ann and pete. the quiet ones at the beginning of the trip turned out to be the ones we couldn't get to stop talking. and that's not a bad thing, we're glad that they finally opened up!

-we find out our true talents. such as rapping vanilla ice, commentaring a b ball game WHILE playing bball, being stoic, gluing on nails, painting a wall, driving a van, using power tools, running a video camera, garbage surfing, shower relays, stipping and working the pole, immitating each other, being manly, looking snazzy while being on the work site (whether it be color cordinating, curling your hair, dressing for the eighties), or navigating.

-learning we can all dance like no other. we shaked our groove thang at the hockey games (ann shakin it like a polaroid picture, so not stoic) (cotton eyed joe) (lo j teaching kearney, neb. the YMCA), in the van (ekren and baby got back?), and at the site.

-most of us felt like crying when we had to split from each other after being with each other for a week...and i'm sure we're all dying to see each other tonight.

these are just a few of the many reasons. i think we all wanted to stay longer. we'll have to plan the reunion tour. if you want to learn more about what we did, i'm in the process of posting the trip journals here.

friday five and last post of the week!

What was...

1. ...your first grade teacher's name?

mrs. fleichek...i think that's how you spell it...you pronounce it like flea and check...and then put the two together and say it really fast!

2. ...your favorite Saturday morning cartoon?

i loved my looney toons!

3. ...the name of your very first best friend?

my first best friend was britton smith. yes, the girl who has never had a boyfriend had a boy as her first best friend. we kinda grew apart after elementary school but i see him often since our families are very close. he's kinda gotten, well, stupid over the years...i don't think he makes the best choices. last i heard he wanted to buy a new truck and then file for unemployment. but yeah, i also just found out that in first grade, when we couldn't be in the same class, he cried! how sweet!

4. ...your favorite breakfast cereal?

back then i did like to eat cereal as opposed to now (ick!). i liked lucky charms, cheerios, frosted flakes and what ever else my mom bought.

5. ...your favorite thing to do after school?

well, i liked playing with friends and the other kids in the neighborhood and at the daycare...but after awhile, once i really got into swimming when i was 6 and 7, i would head off to swimming because practice started at 4 so that's what i did everyday after school!

well everyone, i'm leaving for spring break which means no posts for awhile. like a week. and i was going to post about the rest of my horendous week which did get much better but it's such a long story and it ended on a good note after i felt like punching the wall in, which i refrained from doing. it's odd...i've never really wanted to do that before...but the chili dinner for h4h put me back in a wonderful mood and then shawn started talking to me online last night! which just put me in an even better mood...until after i told him i had a shitty week and then he asked me why and so i told him....and he still didn't respond so i don't know where he went! and then msn had to shut down for maintanance! why don't they do that at a later time? hello! people are still talking at midnight!!! anyway...i'm gonna finish packing and then i'll see you all after a glorious week in okc!

the disastrous life of andi

i want to fall down, preferably hitting my bed, crawl under my covers and disappear into a long, long sleep. that's my wish right now. and i'm wishing....

i know it won't come true because i won't let it come true. i don't consider my life hard, so to say, because i'm tough. i always have and always will be...well maybe not always have. i cried pretty easily in elementary school. but NOW i consider myself tough. i can take anything and do anything. so why is it that i just want to kick school in the butt and crash? i have no idea.

call me lazy, but all i want to do every day is sleep, read good books, paint or make a masterpeice, relax, exercise and enjoy life. BUT then on the other hand, i have to do life: schoolwork, bills, organizing, work, and more schoolwork. i'm not saying any of these are a burden to me, but they are things i would rather not have to concentrate on right now.

it seemed to all boil down last night however. i went to the habitat meeting knowing i wasn't prepared and knew that i would be prepared after spring break...i just had to get through this meeting. i had all that i wanted to say and i had a 2 goals in mind: 1) i didn't want to start assigning things to be done for after spring break because i knew they would be forgoten before spring break. 2) to get this meeting done and over with so we could tye dye shirts. i felt i was doing pretty good until loj came downstairs and started shooting questions at me. i know loj was doing good but for some reason i just couldn't defend myself. not because i didn't know the answers but for some reason i struggled to get the words out of my mouth. my brain litterally froze in action and no thought was going on; all that was happening up there was a mad scramble to find those words that had made a mad dash for it when loj's mouth opened. i have no idea why this happened. my face started to get hot and i sputtered out words that didn't make sense. i hate to be admitting to stress but i think the mad dash for homework before the meeting and the knowledge that i would be at the newman for a good couple of hours was taking it's toll on me. thank god for square and jackie who came to my rescue (i think?) what they said didn't quite reach me the first time due to my disorientedness and the fact that by this point i had lost the groups attention. all i know is jackie eventually said "let's go tye dye" and all i could do was say "let's go". jackie then came and asked me if i needed a hug and i took it because i needed it, which is odd because i'm not the kind to give or receive hugs but will usually take them...not too many people ask me this unless their name is alli. at that point i pretty much felt the tears coming to my eyes but i pushed them away. i wanted to run to the bathroom to let them all out, but decided against it. i had some habitaters that were devouring the tye dyeing equipment and i had to call order!

i don't think yesterday would have been that stressful. i think i was just in one of those moods. i will never admit that i can't handle being president, because i know i am capable of it and it will not be a problem. now i just have to sit down with all the habitat stuff that has been passed on to me and get it organized and make it happen.

my night did cheer up towards the end - square spilt half a bottle of red tye dye on the floor causing us to have to use simple green to clean it up...o darn! hehehe

o and hear's some more startling news: i just found out my wonderful friend julie, who is my partner in crime at online services is quitting! she was a little delayed with the whole letting me know, but i completely forgive her :) you'll be missed at work julie!

anyways, less than 4 days till OKC...it'll be fun, but not quite a relaxing spring break. i'll enjoy the work though, and the laughter and craziness, but most of all, not having to think about anything schoolwork related and putting all of my mind and soul into habitat!

the weekend

my weekend that is not done yet has been pretty good so far. saturday started with some babysitting for jenny's little cousins. i think in all they had 3 babysitters watching the 2 of them in the couple of hours they were here. tessa and i watched them for a good 2 hours until jenny woke up. in that time i occupied katie up in my room as she searched through my candy stash wanting candy that i wasn't going to give her. they're sweet kids and all but a handful. i think katie took some of my chapstick though as i noticed it was gone this morning when i went for it and i noticed her holding it and in her pocket yesterday and just assumed that we had the same stuff...she used our bathroom upstairs a couple of times yesterday....o well, not that i want it back or anything, it was cheap!

last night my friends nicole and nathan (the married couple) came up and we ordered pizza and had a great time. we actually wore ourselves out. we got done with a tour of walmart and we were all ready to hit the sack. (nicole was so excited about a super walmart, so we took a little trip on over there at 1 ish). we also went swimming last night at their hotel and just hung around and had a good time reminising and talking about other such things (perry couldn't really reminise). so after we had our fun i was dropped back off at home and then i pretty much fell asleep....and didn't wake up until the phone rang. it was nate wondering why i wasn't at the habitat breakfast this morning. so of course i got teased and i took it. i told them i could have not showed up...there was only a couple of us there so they didn't say much after that....hehehe. the inhalent of the day was vinegar. aparently all st.philips has to inhale is ajax (which we already took a pose with) and ecolab stuff that doesn't have a bright label on it advertising the brand. how unfun. square also shared her whip cream that i had shared with her. if that makes sense. she told me to bring it on so i was gonna bring on the whip cream...but then we almost dropped some on the table and she put out her hand to catch it. the left over stuff on her hand...yeah, on my face. it makes you wonder when you have been whip creamed in the face twice in your life...

o and also...square and i had another exciting adventure. we made an igloo in the back of her pick up! we couldn't find any where to put the waffles yesterday that we needed for today. obviously they needed a freezer and we didn't have one...so we made one! we packed snow together with broken hockey sticks, wrapped it all in a tarp...and it still didn't stay cold. AND we were delivered the wrong waffles! so naturally we're gonna change food companies because we just aren't happy with them anymore. but we won't worry about it.

o and sorry you guys...no friday five this week.... :(
less than a week till OK!!!

a day of the arts

today i had a glorious day in the cities with katie. it was filled with lots of art as we visited the minneapolis institute of arts and the weissman museum. it was great to just hop on a bus, sleep, eat and get off the bus and walk around, forgetting everything back in bemidji and just enjoying the wonderful pieces of art work.

we got off at the institute at 10 this morning (still a little groggy from sleeping the last 4 hours). the first place we hit was the store. i wanted to see what was there as i felt the need to buy something artsy (fartsy, i know). we looked for a good while and then we decided to head and check out the rest of the place. we went last year also but we got EXTREMELY lost there. it was basically yell-for-help-or-fall-down-on-the-floor-in-a-fetal-position-and-start-rocking-back-in-forth sort of lost. but this year we conquered the place! we ran through the exhibits that we saw last year but weren't all that interested in this year, saw the ones that we definitely wanted to see and then explored the places that we didn't even knew existed. we saw renoir, degas, picasso, toulouse-lautrec, van gogh, monet, dupre, dali, matisse, georgia o'keefe, kandinsky, gauguin, cezanne and so many more. it's so amazing to be standing there, staring at their painting and think that they made those brush strokes, the touched that paper and they made that masterpiece...it's so smack my head on my wall amazing. my favorite collections would definietly have to be the christ period paintings that basically look so gosh darn realistic that you would assume that they HAD to have had a photographer standing somewhere...or a camera. good thing it didn't exist then, huh. i also discovered that i have a fear of realistic portraits hanging in houses, or there is no way any of those portraits would be able to hang in my house! freaky lookin dead people who don't even SMILE and they stare and look at you with funky looking expressions. i have no problem of looking at them in a museum however. that's where they belong and i can look at them there...except for those scary lookin children and that one lady...(makes me shiver!) i think it's because of this one picture that my aunt and uncle had (squeak's parents) had in there basement before the flood. it was a painting of this weird lookin guy in odd colors and he had huge eyes...i couldn't look at him. i have no idea what it was...good thing the flood came and wiped him out. i don't even think squeak remembers him but i sure do....

then we went to the weissman at the u of m campus and saw a very cool exhibit on the human genome called genesis i think (the exhibit was called that). it was basically a bunch of human DNA tests made into an exhibit. it was pretty cool. unfortunetly it was a smaller museum in a huge building so katie and i ran over to the rest of the campus on the other side of the river. after getting somewhat lost there looking for the art department, we eventually found a library and a huge lecture room that was open. we went on in and sat down and couldn't imagine having class in there. it was so weird too...they had tunels that looked like the subway station with study boothes littered all over it. so odd....speaking of odd, on the way back katie stops dead in her tracks and looks over at the top of the tree right there....and we see shoes. thousands of shoes. it was a freaking shoe tree! i don't know if they just find shoes and throw them up there or steal the shoes as a joke or if they just don't want them they'll throw them up there, i don't know. but i took pictures! they'll be in black and white so they should be pretty cool.

after the weissman we ventured over to utrecht, which is a big art store that has pretty much everything. i just wasn't in the mood at that point to buy my pretty little heart out. i saved my pennies for another time. i think i was tired from walking around all day (by this time it was 5) and hungry and dehydrated. katie and i hoped back on the bus and headed on home after that. so it was a great day. filled with art. nothing else but art. all of bemidji and all that was on my mind stayed in bemidji. the perfect excape!

here's some of my favorite pieces i saw through out the day:

The Japanese Footbridge, about 1922
Claude Monet, French, 18-40-1926

Blessing of the Tuna Fleet at Groix, 1923
Paul Signac, French, 1863-1935
In this painting, it's all little rectangles of color...no two colors are overlapped!

Denial of St. Peter
Gerard van Honthorst 1592-1656
Oil on canvas, 110.5 x 144.8 cm
this is one of kt's and mine's favorites. it's so lifelike, it's unreal! and the light that is shown here, amazing!

Howling Dog, 1928
Paul Klee, Swiss, 1879-1940
I just like the colors in this one and the fact that the little 2nd grade girl in a tour we were watching, when asked what this painting was called as cried out, "I know! I know! It's called 'How, How, How-ling Dawg!" as she stumbled over the words...priceless. i told katie i wanted to take her home with me...besides the fact that it's totally illegal...you get the point!

this is a portrait of clementine karr. it will forever haunt me. can you see why i will never have a portrait in my house? NEVER! i'm gonna have nightmares...

the above were from the institute. i'll have to see what i can grab from the weissman. kt and i are going back to the cities in the summer so we can see the new exhibit they are putting in there collection at the institute which will become the modern pieces...it contains a lot of chairs and other artifacts from the 50's and up that totally inspired a our culture...i'm excited! but i have to get to bed...i tired!

coach andi

went and signed my papers today! i'll be swim coach andi in a month! woohoo!
glasses suck

went to the eye doctor again today...he tugged on the skin around my eye and concluded that my eyes are getting better but still no contacts. cornia infrastructure really can bite ya in the butt. it's so weird because i can't even tell that i have it...doesn't hurt or anything...but eventually it will if i go back to wearing contacts right now. at least i'll be able to wear my contacts when we leave for OK next weekend.
a change

so i thought i would change things up a bit..especially with spring coming. i've also been on a sunflower kick. i've always loved sunflowers and after watching under the tuscan sun a couple too many times, i was reunited with my love for them. the only thing i'm having a problem with is the funky A thingys at the beginning of each post...anybody know how to get rid of them?

what's your heart made of?

crystal heart
Heart of Crystal

What is Your Heart REALLY Made of?
brought to you by Quizilla
how's your sex life?

haha! lindsi stole this from another blog but this is so true:

You're walking through the mall/grocery store/fast food joint/bank/porn shop on a home weekend or break from school when you see someone you graduated high school with. This person and you were not close friends, merely acquaintances, but you definitely both recognize each other and are at least on a first name basis. Your heart skips a beat at the acknowledgment of anticipated awkwardness, you allow your eyes to wander while you decide whether or not to make eye contact. You take "one giant leap for mankind" and lock eyes with the acquaintance, manage a nervous grin and shaky "hey". If they stop, you feel obligated to take a moment to "catch up". Now, here's the dialogue of "catching up" between high school graduates:

"Hey! How have you been?"
"What are you doing with yourself these days?"
"Oh that's cool, where do you go to school?"
"Awesome! What's your major?"
"Do you like it so far?"
"Do you still hang out with Mary and Jimmy and Peter?"
"Well, see ya around!"

Personally, next time I encounter this situation, I'm going to make some desperate attempt at breaking social norms and ask them how their sex life is or something of the sort. Of course, the context would be best when set in a porn shop errand, but the grocery store may make for a funnier story.

Also, will this conversation be so prevalent at our 10-year reunion? I think I'm busy that day.
losing it

i think there is something wrong with me. never in my life have i forgoten my keys before. now, in the last week, i've forgotten them twice. the first time, they were easily retrieveable as i was able to get back into the office before it closed. last night however was not the case. i had a night class last night and didn't realize that i had left my keys in the office until about 9:30 when i was done with class. so i ran back over to memorial the whole time crossing my fingers that the janitor would still be there. i get over there and i think, "what great luck! the janitors closet is still open!" the lights are on, his broom, mop, and caddy are still out...but no sign of him. i wait around listening for foot steps or some form of life. then i start thinking of other ways to get to my car and move it off the wrong side of the street. i then remembered that my spare key is in my red coat pocket (i wore my blue coat that day), but i need a phone to get to it. as i was walking around upstairs i notice that their is a light flooding through the cracks of the door of the only lone office in memorial. i knock on the door and no answer. so being that their was no one around i check to see if the door is open. and it is! i step inside and the first thing i do is search the office for keys. no keys. then i see the phone and after some heavy brain work, i eventually am able to call off campus and to the house. i've been saved! lindsey says that she can come and pick me up and bring me my key. so i spent the night without my keys but at least i could drive my car. my boss shannon told me the next morning that i could have called security and they would have been able to let me into the office with no problem...the things i don't think of.
The Ballad of Squeaky and Squish

by: squish (erica)

There once was a girl named Squishy
And she didn’t even smell fishy
She had a best friend she called Squeak
Who was also referred to as eek
Squishy and Squeaky together had fun
They laughed ‘til they cried, until they were done
But Squish and Squeak lived so far away
They didn’t get to see each other every day
They tried to keep in touch by updating their blogs
They im-ed and e-mailed and danced wearing clogs
They saw each other on Christmas and Thanksgiving too,
And Easter, and New Years too name a few
They spent time together for every birthday
They giggled and laughed as was their way
Presents were important (but appreciated none the less)
All in all, they love was the best
So this is my poem about Squishy and me
And the friendship that will always be!

thanks squish! love your squeak

the honey mustard crisis

so i was wakling down to the union today to get something to eat for lunch. i find that there really isn't anything interesting so i decide on a turkey sub. i get my sub, and then i walk on over to the condiments table to get honey mustard for my sandwich and honey mustard/ketchup for my fries. before I go on, I have to tell you that the union's honey mustard is the best stuff ever. it doen't even taste like honey or mustard...it's just...amazing. so it was to my surprise that they didn't have my honey mustard down there. NOT HAPPY. no, they changed honey mustard brands, so now there is a different kind of honey mustard which isn't really like honey mustard at all. in fact, it reminds me of that herb whipped butter that you get at nicer restaurants but this stuff is thinner. personally, i'm not sure what to do. i was told i could tell deb, who runs the cashier and she'll take care of it. i just don't understand why they would change it when so many people love it. i don't know what i'm going to do....
hee he hee hee hee zbambillingbingbing! (the gross post)

(disclaimer: if you have a weak stomach or do not like reading about gross and sick things...you MAY not want to read. but then again you could read it and think it was the best thing ever. i don't know what you will do. remember that my mind is not always this corrupted. just when i am at home with, well, i think jenny starts all the action. so, i'm not this corrupted all the time. but hey, i warned you.)

so i just got back from a h4h meeting, which by the way, is funny as always. between the inside jokes and lutheran and catholic bashing and just us being our witty selves, you can't help but to fall on the floor laughing.

but my night gets even better.

and why wouldn't it get better when you live in a house full of girls who all have minds that have to be much worse than that of college frat boys.

so i get home and eventually it's th, ds, jv, and i and we're all in the (alcoholic) kitchen eating and talking. ds happens to mention that, yeah, she found 5 condoms in her dresser drawers as she was cleaning out and getting ready to leave for europe. but here's the thing: in the beginning of the year we got a lovely house warming gift from our dear friend leann that included 6 different condoms. ds just told us that she only found 5, which means (you do the math), WHERE'S THE OTHER ONE????

first we had to decide where ds had used the other ones...we had first concluded that they were from a box of 12...we tried to name the 7 times they would have been used...almost. then we figured, well what the heck, where did the other one go if it was from the original 6? who used it? and what were we gonna do now that we didn't have the 6th one? well...our well educated minds came to the conclusion that the remaining 5 would have to be recycled. yes...pump and wash.

this pretty much had us on the floor laughing with water running down our eyes. i'm surprised no one peed their pants but ds did wash her nose out with hot cocoa.

o and here is a comment board question: We still need to get our cocky as hell neighbors back for the pranks they played on us this year. We have decided that we need to do something that they would not expect to come from girls. It first started with jenny saying we should place a poop bag on their door step. then she suggested would bring home a nice big ole cow pie. but who wants to drive home with a cow pie in the back seat? then we decide that we should all just start saving up our poop so that we could get them bad at the end of the year, so why not put a poop can in the bathroom? we could have 2 since shortly we will not have a toilet anyways since it's falling through the floor, and we could label them #1 and #2. we would have to put a do not throw away sign next to number 2. then we thought it would just be easier if we could sump pump it over to their doorstep. could you imagine? flush............WHHHHOOOOOSHSSHHHHH! right onto their doorstep! it would be great...anyone know a good cheap plumber without the crack?

so yeah...have suggestions...leave me a note :)

mmmmm.....bleach!

i just finished up with another great habitat breakfast. i have come to realize that those breakfasts are truely the love of my life. i can now say that i have laughed so hard that i've cried lately! between all of us TRYING to be quiet (it'll never happen!) and sniffing clorox bleach underneath the sink (it'll be a great picture!) and trying to guzzle down the rest of the orange mcdonald's drink, o and can't forget the catholic and lutheran bashing, i think we all had too good of a time. and by the way, i believe that lutherans can drive better and smell better! heheheheeee

o and i also showered them all with my great dance moves. i'll have to show you all the ice auger sometime or the shampoo!

and as for last night...well...i'm sure katie and perry enjoyed it! they made a good audience for my audience craving roommates. i know that the girls were just dying to have someone over so that they could show off their moves! afterwards i slammed down two wine coolers, tried to talk to erica online and then we went off to a party. i swear i'll never get drunk...and you know, they all think that i'm drunk but believe me, after only two wine coolers...that's nothin. i was just in a good mood last night as i usually am...if you would have seen me at the breakfast this morning, they would have TOTALLY understood that i was no where near being drunk last night!

anyways, i have to get back to work and also get some homework done...ick....

packing list for OK

frisbees
kickball
jump ropes
sugar
inhalents.....
hammer
powertools
bandanna
camera to record the action.....
it's a beautiful day!

oooooo! spring and summer are a commin! i can't wait to whip out those rollerblades and hit the trail around the lake with katie! the snow's melting and i don't want to do anything but be outside. that's why i'm procrastinating. but it's almost that time.

today i went for a swim at the pool and got in a good work out. i had to take out my perscription googles which i haven't used in a couple of years since i switched googles and started wearing my contacts. this allowed me to see all the time! but today i had racoon eyes since i had to keep those googles on in order to see! then when i got back i went for a walk with jenny and tessa. it was quite interesting. the girls are talking about getting drunk tonight but i'm thinking they're in a good enough mood already... :)

i actually started to clean my room...it's almost done. a couple things here and there and it'll be complete. but since i'm a professtional procrastinator...we'll see if it actually gets done. i also organized all my art stuff. i'm so proud of myself! we'll see how long that'll last. i can't wait to move into the new house. i can get organized again! yay that!

bit of advise for all of you...if you sitting at your computer reading this. stop right now. go outside and enjoy the beautiful weather!

friday five

When was the last time you...

1. ...went to the doctor?
today actually. i needed to get a new perscription for the eyes and i found out that i have cornia infrastructure or something like that. don't worry...i'm not going blind!...yet anyways. i can also tell you the next time i will go to the doctor. that would be next friday as i have to have my eyes checked again to see if my cornia something or another has healed. o, and that's why it looks like i'm crying all the time. case solved!

2. ...went to the dentist?
um, it's probably getting close to the 6 month mark! time to go see good ol' uncle paul at the dentist office!

3. ...filled your gas tank?
last sunday. i needed to so i could head back to bermidji. if i didn't i would still be stuck at home in egf. good thing, huh?

4. ...got enough sleep?
sleep? what's sleep? yeah...couldn't tell you the last time. it coulda been last night (i went to bed @ 11! i think that's a record!) but i usually base it on how i feel when i get up...if i get out of bed and can't stand up and then i hit my head on my ceiling/wall, i don't consider myself awake. and yes, i do then have this weird walk to get out of my room which involves grabbing surfaces and slamming my head on the wall a couple more times. i know...i have no idea other than the fact that i'm not awake as to why i do this...

5. ...backed up your computer?
yeah....the computer geek doesn't back up her computer. i don't have time. one of these days i know i'm going to wish i had time....but we won't go worrying about that now.

the day of big blingbling

i hate money, i seriously do. i've often thought of what it would be like if everything in the world was free? no one would have to worry about how much they have, or how much they didn't have or making payments...but then i came down to the cold hard fact that then the world would just be greedy. so i quickly pushed that thought out of my head (opposite of the way it came into my head).

but anyways...i came to the thought of money as i am paying off everything with everything i have. i just got my paycheck today and it's already gone...another 2 weeks i have to go with nothin. the only thing i have left to pay with would be my first unborn child, which i still have yet to have (i got that from squeakers as that is her personal way to pay off debt! hehehe). i just got back from walmart and as much as it may be cheap there it's still dragging all my money in. i wonder if you got a job there if you get a discount...wait. i'm not that desperate! (nothing against the people who do work there, it's just not for me). so yeah. i've come to the conclusion that i might as well start up the Save Andrea Kroll fund right now, so go ahead and send all personal (and public?) donations to me. i will take them graciously.

so this is why i hate money. it puts you in a bad mood.

habitat for life

yes! habitat for humanity is finally starting to run 10 times smoother! i ran the meeting tonight and there were no complaints and we got everything done and we got outta there early. breakfasts are set up, chili dinner is underway, and even though we only probably have enough money to make it to OK(which means we'll probably be walking back) i think we'll do ok. i am so excited for the trip! i can't wait for the fun to begin!
this one's for you kt (and squeakers)

yes, i have realized that i haven't blogged for awhile...but eeka squeakers got me int he mood. i'm supposed to be doing homework but she just created a blog so i thought that i better get my butt in gear. also, kt asked me today why i had not updated in awhile...i had no good excuse. so, hopefully, here we go again!

friday five

1. What's the most daring thing you've ever done?
I don't do much that is daring...street sign stealing? that was a great night...

2. What one thing would you like to try that your mother/friend/significant other would never approve of?
ok, first off, my mother doesn't approve of me doing anything daring. if i had it my way i would have traveled all over the place by now and who knows what else.

3. On a scale of 1-10, what's your risk factor? (1=never take risks, 10=it's a lifestyle)
my mother's voice is always in the back of my head...grrr, it would have to be a 2 or 3... i know! i'm boring!

4. What's the best thing that's ever happened to you as a result of being bold/risky?
the best? o i'm sure there's somthing....

5. ... and what's the worst?
got yelled at any my mom started crying....which is why i'm not a bold or daring person...
grrr...

big files in photoshop are no fun at all! i'm sitting here waiting for a file to save that'll take 20 min. so much for technology....haven't posted in awhile, guess i'm not really in a mood to sit down and type everything out. yes, kt, i know you'll be overjoyed when you see i've posted! i really have to pee...file hurry up and save already!

Friday, January 16, 2004

friday five

1. What does it say in the signature line of your emails?
-my signature is plain and simple, it says -Andrea :) or something like that with my full name underneath.

2. Did you have a senior quote in your high school yearbook? What was it? If you haven't graduated yet, what would you like your quote to be?
-haha! our school have senior quotes? don't get me wrong, we had a great yearbook, but it seems almost, 1950ish to have a quote put in the yearbook...like some sort of patriot quote or something that you would read in those old things. plus, what if you said something that turns out to be stupid? i wouldn't want to be remembered the rest of my life as the person who said the stupid quote in the yearbook...not that that matters or anything...

3. If you had vanity plates on your car, what would they read? If you already have them, what do they say?
-either ANDI or SWIMMER or BAKSTRK (backstroke) or DOLPHIN

4. Have you received any gifts with messages engraved upon them? What did the inscription say?
-not that i can think of...but if you really wanted to know, it would involve me sorting through the box of andi's stuff...and then i could tell you

5. What would you like your epitaph to be?
-eh...too early to think about that...i hope! anyways...in honor of my favorite sign, mine can read "don't even THINK about parking here"

via friday five

sorry...but i was enjoying my break!

sorry to everyone, as i haven't blogged in an extremely long time. i had a very good break though, besides getting sick, so that's going to be my excuse. here are some of the numerous exciting things that have happened to me over break:

-well, this one isn't so exciting, but i stayed in bemidji and worked until xmas eve. then i drove all the way home. but it was a good drive and i made lots of money!
-i'm officialy done at BBW, unless they need extra help...yay!
-i got a new job! you can now call me COACH ANDI! i'm coaching the Bemidji Area Super Swimmers, also known as BASS...that is as soon as i update my lifeguard certifications...
-i got sick...with the flu. no fun at all. and to make matters worse, my car wouldn't start when i wanted to go to the doctor since it was so cold out, and no one was up at the house to take me there...but i got there eventually.
-i chopped my hair ... it's so damn cute! i don't think i've been this happy with my hair in awhile...probably since the last time i got my perm. my mom is still convinced however that i should never get a perm again because i look nice with straight hair. i beg to differ...unless i have this haircut!
-i got a cd player for my car and now i can blast my cds as loud as i want!...as long as no one else is in the car...maybe :)

but that's about it besides working my butt off at webct. i worked a total of 10.5 hours yesterday, and not just for myself, it was all for the teachers! otherwise i so would've been out of there by 6. o well...extra money!

i guess the only other news is that for the first time in a long long time i remembered a dream from this morning...it was one of those makes you feel all warm and good on the inside...it was just good!

if god is a dj...

If God is a DJ
Life is a dance floor
Love is the rhythm
You are the music
If God is a DJ
Life is a dance floor
You get what you're given
It's all how you use it

(so get your ass on the dance floor!)

The United States Sports Academy 2003 Athlete of the Year

In the Men's Division, MICHAEL PHELPS was the winner. Phelps was named Swimmer of the Meet at the World Championships in 2003, after winning six medals, including four golds and breaking five world records. Phelps became first person to ever break five world records in one meet. He won three U.S. National titles, becoming the first man in history to win three different strokes at one national championship.

History awaits

Michael Phelps says it with a straight face: "I want at least one gold medal."
Right. And Barry Bonds wants at least 10 homers next season.

When you're a swimmer who evokes comparisons to Mark Spitz, one Olympic gold is a warm-up. Phelps has already broken 11 world records, including an unprecedented five at this year's world championships, and his six-and-a-half-foot wingspan puts him within reach of the seven golds Spitz snagged in 1972. Will he go for it? The 18-year-old from Baltimore hasn't said how many events he'll race next August in Athens, but Speedo is offering $1 million if Phelps catches Spitz. Either way, he's sure to make waves.

"Michael has already changed the landscape," says his coach, Bob Bowman. "It's hard not to put him in the history books."

At least on one page.

my two faced aunts

who ever thought i would see the evil side of my aunts? my dad's family all gathered here at our house on saturday for the family xmas. before i go any further let me tell you about my dad's family:

my grandparents were married a long long time ago and were 20 years apart. my grandpa died when my dad was about my age (19) and my mom never met him. my dad is the youngest and a twin of the 7 siblings...3 boys and 4 girls. with all of them having kids except for my dad's twin and his wife, that makes 22 grand kids and now 19 going on many more gread-grand kids. when my grandpa died, he signed a will saying that the 3 boys each got a share of the 80 acre's of land my grandpa owed and then the 3 boys had to pay the girls each 4000 each year. my grandma is now 80 some years old and obviously not all that able to live by her own.

here's how our family xmas went:

my aunt mary walks in the door and starts trying to get people to side with her because there are 3 of the 7 that think my grandma should be moved into a nursing home, which my family agree's, since my dad's twin, uncle donald, walked into her house to find her eaching a frozen dinner...literally, it was still frozen. also, we have no one who will be able to move in with her and help her out. now there are 2 of the 4 sisters who do not want her to move into the nursing home. the other two, one sides with us, the other lives in milwakee and we don't know her exact opinion. but here's all that went on:

aunt mary and audrey try to corner people all night trying to get them to side with them...they retreat to the basement and sulk down there and also bitch about the will. supposedly they can change it so they can get more money, and they are being a little greedy. one aunt notices a carnival glass bowl that my dad ended up getting from their grandma francis, they all wonder why my dad got the bowl and not them. most of my aunts all bring gifts for the family in milwakee...they all know that they won't be there, so my mom is now stuck with all these gifts she's wondering if she should send. but what really played a part of the whole day was the whole nursing home bit. my grandma really needs the extra care and all of her friends are living there already and our cousin tracy is working there. grandma doesn't know about this yet...we don't want to get her all worked up about it yet. but my aunts were being complete bitches about it all night long and my dad is really pissed off. my aunts are already worried about my grandma's will and she's no were near being dead yet! i was kind of hoping i would get my grandma's sewing machine, but as my dad put it, take what you can now because by time your aunts go through, there will be nothing left....just plain greedy i tell you.
the latest

just wanted to wish you all a happy belated xmas. it was pretty good for me...lots of food and a couple good presents and i'm ready to bring in the new year. not sure what i am going to do for new year yet. the big decision is whether i stay here in egf or go back and party with the girls. i would like to stay here with erica but i have yet to talk to her as she is getting back from new york tonight. i want to see if she has any plans. if not i might just be going back. i'm not really a partier and know i probably wouldn't have much fun if i go that way, but we'll see. i talked to danielle on friday and she said she will give me a call...we'll see if that actually happens.

i went out and bought the xmas gift i wanted...i'm glad no one else got it for me however...i paid 80 bucks for a cd player for my car and it's still an extra hundred to install it...whipping out the credit card for this one. i still need to go and buy groceries too and another xmas gift...i know what i'm getting heidi but still haven't bought it.

yeah baby!

we're gonna follow michael phelps, one of my swimming gods (he's so HOT!), as he goes about to win his 7 gold medals at the 2004 olympic games, where at this point he will have tied mark spitz's record 7 golds at an olympics and he will have earned himself a bonus $1 million from his endorser SPEEDO (the people who make his suit!). go michael!

the POWER!

i feel so, just, special right now! i got keys to the work place that are rented out under my name for spring! that means i can come and go as i please...but with extra precations....it's a good thing that at least somebody in this world trusts me!
all done!

that's it! i'm all done with my classes! and i'm so glad to be done, too...i was getting a little bored with my classes and i'm definetly ready for a change. now i'm just going to be working everyday during break...it'll be nuts but great money in the end, which i can't wait, i'm a workaholic because i'm a moneyaholic...o well, it goes to good causes and i try really hard not to just through it away.

i went to perkins last night for dinner with tessa and danielle...we went at about midnight and it was a good time. those two were supposed to be studying for finals but do you think that happened? not one in a million...they sat and faced the door so they could watch and see who was coming and going. Peter Jennings was there (the student not the newscaster!) and i said goodbye to him as he was not coming back. danielle and tessa will evidently miss him more than i will ("it's not bemidji state with out pete...") but i didn't know him that well. he's very nice...he told a friend that he was sitting with three beautiful girls when his phone rang, that's always a compliment!

i exchanged gifts with amanda last night, my roomie from last year...i didn't realize how much i missed her and living with her. we reminised about last year and caught up with this year. sometimes i can't believe how much i miss last year, it was just too much fun. i also miss certain people and just wish they were back here. o well...not much i can do about it but just live for the moment!

i also had a little arguement with danielle that i don't feel like discussing here...already told most people and to have to write it all down...doesn't sound fun. the important people know, and if you don't know already, i'm sorry i didn't tell you...please come find me and i'll tell all!

can't wait til tomorrow...my room will be clean!

beer pong!

so i (well i guess i was watching) a great drinking game that is going to hit BSU like a freight train! it's called beer pong and it's based on rules from table tennis and the strategies of bowling. it's a great game and i'm not going to explain it because you would still be sitting here thinking what? so if you want to know, ask me. but anyways, i think it would be great to start it up at BSU like an underground intramural thing and we could go from there, having regular season and then championships...it'll be great! and we could have cheerleaders and charge admission ...someone should be taking notes, we could make a fortune off this! what's great about that last time it was played...we played it at the laurel house, which is on campus (we're a dry campus) and it's the honor's student's house! i laugh everytime i walk past there...hehehe!

xmas on 12th street

well we finally had our xmas party...well it wasn't really even a party. we all just happened to be home on last thursday night so we were like, what the hell! let's open gifts! so we did, and it was us 6 and tessa's parents and we had a great time. i gave each of the girls a shot glass and i etched their name and a design into each one and gave them a small thing of body lotion from BBW. lindsey got each of us a stocking with a candle, candy, chapstick and an ornament inside each one. danielle got us each a willow tree angle that matched our personality...mine was the angel of prayer (and as everyone knows, i'm blinded by the light of my halo!). jenny got me a big, beautiful, colorful martini glass for the collection. tessa got a bucket of BBW lotions and soaps and body sprays for the whole house to share plus a nerf over the door basket ball hoop for procrastination (except we already lost the ball...i'm betting lindsey put it away somewhere...hmmm...). carly got each of us a precious moment figurine for the first letter of our name ( i got an A and it had an angel with it and it said angelic on it). i really thought that one was cute as i have a collection of precious moments. i really liked my gifts...and if the girls read this i would say thank you sooo much but, hehe, they don't. they don't even know i have a blog...but we'll keep that our little secret!

6 girls, no time

who would have thought that finding a time when 6 girls could meet would be so hard? at the house we are trying to figure out when the best time it would be to hold our christmas party and exchange gifts. they wanted to do it friday...but i'm gone at portfolio reviews until after 5:30 and tessa has pep band at 6...we both won't be back till probably after 10 and by that time lindsey has to go to bed since she has to be up at 4 in the morning to go to work. and the rest of the weekend doesn't work for her either as she has christmas with one side of her family on sunday otherwise she is working. danielle originally asked me what time i got off work on friday and i had totally forgot about the portfolio reviews and i told her i don't get off of work until 6...then she told me that tessa had to be somewhere at 6 so then she asked me to find someone else to work for me! who does that!? seriously...i actually need to live on my paycheck, unlike some other people i know.

anyways...im so very happy because i can finally wear my contacts again...no more glasses! they're cute but really annoying. and yes katie...i went for 7 days with drops, 4 days without and now i can wear my contacts again!

i was thrilled today (again!) to see that i had some of my artwork on display at bridgeman hall!!! i'm soo excited, this is just wonderful for me since it means that i actually do a good job which makes all of this tedious homework much more worthwhile.
almost back to normal

yeah, so im checking my blog one day when i notice....THERE IS NOTHING THERE! so yeah, all my html for this page all of a sudden disappeared and i'm still in the process of reconstructing this place...i just have to get the pictures back in so once that's done we'll be good again!

long weekend

i have a headache right now. i'm tired, i want to go to bed, but i can't...i have too much homework to do! i have final projects due all this week and next and i can't wait for them to be over. i had a fun weekend other than that. julie and i went out for our usual get together on friday nights at applebee's which was fun as always. then we hit the hockey game (we won!) and went to find a party but to no avail...so we crashed at my house and surprise, surprise! all 6 of us girls were there! it was a lot of fun. unfortunatly i crashed into sleep not long afterwards. then saturday i worked, did honors homework and then we got our xmas tree! i was so excited! it looks gorgeous if not a little patriotic, but we weren't going for that look, it just happened. then i wrote a paper that night (i know, my saturday nights sound so exciting!) and went to bed because i had a habitat for humanity breakfast this morning that i was late for! oops! i need my sleep though and i wasn't feeling too hot this morning anyways...and when we got there they had plenty of helpers. but now this afternoon i worked and did homework...i can't wait for this madness to stop! all i do is homework and work and pretty soon it will be reduced down to just work...woopey...i even have to work xmas eve...o well, at least ill be making money.

watch out new york!

While driving katie and myself around to do some errands yesterday, we got to talking again about our need to visit new york city. we both have a fascination with it and want to go REALLY badly. so we both decided, in a matter of seconds in the car, that we were going to go some time this summer. whether that happens or not, no one really knows, but i REALLy hope it does! today i did some searching on it and have compiled a list of places that i want to go....now we just need some mula.....donations anyone?
drama in the house

as i have mentioned before, i live with 5 other girls while attending college. so as you can imagine, there will always be some sort of drama in the house. here's the latest incident:

so i come home on sunday afternoon, and shortly after danielle walks through the door. we have noticed that lindsey has brought her couch that she said that she would bring...and our living room furniture has now been rearranged to accomodate this new piece. this is all fine and dandy, except that danielle isn't to keen on the set up...she is especially worried where the xmas tree will go. so she says, let's move it and see what else we can come up with. so we do, and we come up with something a little bit different. well couple hours later, jenny comes home and notices the furniture and doesn't say much. after that, lindsey comes home, looks at the furniture and says what happened? i just tell her that danielle and i were experimenting with the furniture. she looks again and says, it looks like shit. harsh. then she goes on into a sob story about how she and jenny spent all friday morning rearranging furniture to get the couch in. at this point jenny and lindsey decide to move the furniture back while danielle is out. then jenny demands that i make a choice as to which of the two arrangements i like better. well, i'm a pretty simple girl and i REALLY do not care how the furniture is arranged. if we all wanted it right in front of the tv, go for it, it'll probably be fun. but no, jenny demands an answer since i am part of the household and this is a privledge to voice my opinion. i tell her again that i don't care if it's this way, or that way, or any other way....but she's still pressing on! so she goes on and poors her heart out about how other things have lead up to this, other people using others stuff and not asking and just goes on about the whole furniture thing. i then tell her that it seems that she is blaming me. she says no, not you, everyone...at this point she is in tears and excuses herself to go to bed, but first i demand a hug out of her and i get it. then lindsey poors out her heart to me and she turns in goes to bed. the whole while through this i say pretty much nothing...what do they want me to say? i'm sorry? because technically, im not...i really didn't have much to do with this except to aid in the furniture moving process. and in reality, THE FURNITURE CAN BE MOVED! really easily actually. jenny said it was like a slap in the face however to see the furniture moved. after this little fiasco and the girls going to bed, i turn to tessa who has been sitting there listening the whole time and i'm like, make it stop! please! she just laughs...but anyways...seriously people...i don't know if it's pms or other things unknown...just let it go! a person should never take something this seriously, especially if it involves the arrangement of furniture!
find dru

for those of you who haven't heard, dru sjodin is missing from grand forks, north dakota, which is pretty much my home town. It was a very unusual circumstance as she left work from the mall went out the her car, talking to her boyfriend on the phone and all of a sudden, she's missing! the last thing that she said was, oh my god to her boyfriend, and then the phone went dead.

there are two reasons why i hate that things like this need to happen. 1) my heart truely goes out to dru and her family...i really hope that she is still alive out there, somewhere. how horrible would it be to have your daughter/sister/friend/etc/....all of sudden get kidnapped, not knowing that you will ever see her again? it's horrible just thinking about it. The other reason, 2), is more for my well-being. you see, i have extremely over protective parents, which is just fine in some cases. because of this, i was able to go out and purchase a cell phone with their help, which is really exciting. on the other hand, i left my house with my parents crying after turkey day weekend as they think that i have the same fate as dru! my mother wants me to sign up for self defense classes and everyother email i get from her is how to protect myself. yes, i know this is all in an act of love, which is very comforting, but my parents i think would be truely satisfied if i were just to lock my self in their basement and never leave home for the rest of my life! i had to sit them down and tell them that life MUST go on and that things are going to happen and that you can't stop that. also, just because something just as tragic as this happens DOESN'T mean that i wasn't very cautious before. and from what i hear from my mother, it's not just her, it's ALL other parents in the grand cities area! what they need to understand is that we were careful before! remind us once and then you can stop! don't do it a million times...believe us, it sinks in! but other than that, yes we love you and we understand and thanks for worrying.

aaaaaa, a day off!

finally! we got a day off of school! but unfortunatly, i'm enjoying it from the IT lab while finishin up an assignment and later i'm out taking pictures for another assignment. at least it's outside in the beautiful weather. it finally got nice out. i was freezing my ass off walking to school (but as my friend danielle would say, maybe that's a good thing....). o, and happy vetran's day!
